Approved October 13, 2006
Amended December 8, 2006

Announcement of Intent
A college seeking the recommendation shall announce their intent to seek this recommendation at a consortium meeting.
In cases where it would be prudent to accelerate the regional consortia recommendation process, and where waiting for the next meeting of the regional occupational deans would cause unnecessary delay, a college's occupational education dean may request that the announcement of intent be made and comments and/or concerns be sought via e-mail. The dean will consult with the chair of the regional deans to determine the best way to accomplish this task.

Presentation/Discussion and Recommendation for Approval of New Programs
Once a college has completed the program approval documents, the college will submit an electronic version of the Application for Approval-New Occupational Program (excluding course outlines) to the voting members of the consortium and the regional chair. The regional chair shall send an e-mail to all members announcing the submission of the packet. Voting members shall receive the electronic version of the application 14 calendar days before the next consortium meeting.
Voting members may request the course outlines from the proposing college.
Any questions or discussions about the proposed program shall be submitted to the proposing college before the next consortium meeting.
A representative from the college seeking recommendation for program approval must be present for discussion at the regional consortium meeting. All application forms and the course outlines shall be brought to the meeting for reference, if necessary. All questions and discussions concerning the proposed program submitted to the proposing college shall be presented and responded to, if necessary.
A vote for recommendation of the new program will occur at the regional consortium meeting. Each college present at the meeting will receive one vote. A majority "YES" vote will be required for regional recommendation. The outcome of the vote, along with any discussion, will be indicated in the minutes of the regional consortium meeting
The chair of the Consortium will sign the Application for Approval-New Occupational Program.

Emergency Protocol
The process is the same as described above, except that the vote will be taken electronically rather at the next consortium meeting.

Program revisions and other program matters requiring regional recommendations shall be handled as described above.
