Graphic Design Certificate
Graphic Design is the act of conceptualizing and arranging visual and/or verbal information for the purpose of communicating to an audience through media advertising, print publications, websites and mobile devices.
The designer of the 21st Century must have a highly developed set of traditional skills, as well as an understanding of, and an ability to utilize, new and constantly changing technology in a global environment.
To meet these competencies, the SBCC Graphic Design program begins with a foundation in design, typography and creative thinking. To expand on this body of knowledge, the student is then introduced to the online world of social networking and virtual worlds, where they discover that the future of creative design is taking place on a scale and at a pace that will demand great flexibility and vision, but will also provide unprecedented opportunities.
The goals for this program are to provide basic and advanced skills in order to enhance visual and digital literacy and to significantly improve certificate completion.
The curriculum is designed to create a balance between technology, design and visual arts as well as provide instruction in software applications specific to graphic design and digital printing as it applies to media arts and business/commercial applications.
Students work on state-of-the-art equipment creating projects that communicate visually to an audience through media advertising, print publications, websites and mobile-devices.
